Small Philippine Beats Big Iran By 12 Points

TOM Sports: The ABA Championships continues tonight between Philippine SmartGilas and Iran All-Stars Team. Using fastbreak and inside-outside play, Philippine establishes a 34-29 lead in the first half. Not getting used to the opponents` fast play, Iran loses its rhythm and could not come back. Finally, Philippine SmartGilas beats Iran All-Stars Team by 12 points, the score is 76-64.

In the first quarter, Baloca of Philippine fires a three to open the game and in the next position Douste of Iran serving a dunk in the paint. The two teams are tied with 6 minutes remaining in this quarter. In the last position, the two Philippines, Aquila gives nice assists to Casio, making Philippine a 17-14 lead over Iran.

In the second quarter, Iran fights back. Hassan-Zade catches the second chance basket and makes the shot. With a few fastbreak points and free-throws, Iran regains the lead, 22-21. But smaller Philippines speed up the rhythm and Dorset can not be stopped. The head coach of Iran, Matic yells at the baseline and not satisified about the referee but it not help at all. The third quarter becomes a duel between Davalli of Iran and Lutezi of Philippine. They hits three-points in each other`s face and Davalli also makes three free throws. Matic called timeout with 7 minutes remaining. When the game resumes, Philippines go crazy and extend the lead to 60-47 when the quarter time expires.

In the last quarter, Iran seeks to grab the last chance and hits two threes in a roll. Philippine calls a timely timeout , by strengthening its defense and Dorset`s paint points, small Philippines finally beats big Iran by 12 points, the final score is 76-64.
